Arne Slot’s transfer plans could be rocked if Real Madrid come knocking for Alexis Mac Allister this summer. The midfielder has been a key cog in Liverpool’s starting XI this season, with the Reds on the verge of a second Premier League title in five years.
As per the Spanish outlet Marca, the former Brighton ace is being “studied” by Real Madrid, who are contemplating spending big during the off-season. The report claims Mac Allister’s name has been mentioned by transfer chiefs at Real Madrid, meaning Liverpool could face a battle to keep him on their hands.

As the Merseyside outfit have seen with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is reportedly set to join the record European champions, the lure of the Santiago Bernabeu can prove too strong to turn down. Granted, unlike his team-mate, Mac Allister has three years left on his contract, but if he was to depart this summer, Liverpool would almost certainly have to replace the energetic midfield star.
As a result, Express Sport have picked out three midfield options Liverpool could target if they lose Mac Allister.

Tijjani Reijnders - AC Milan
Sticking in Italy, Tijjani Reijnders is another star to have been linked with a Premier League move, notably Manchester City, who according to Sky Switzerland will “attack” the creative midfielder this summer. He might not be as robust as Mac Allister, but what he lacks in steeley qualities, the 26-year-old certainly makes up for in final third contributions. Across all competitions for AC Milan this season, the Dutchman has contributed 18 goals and assists, making him an attractive option for Premier League sides.
Perhaps Liverpool wouldn’t even have to go too far to find their Mac Allister replacement, given Eduardo Camavinga has been touted with a move away from the Spanish capital already. According to Sky Germany, Camavinga is another target for Liverpool’s Premier League rivals City, with talk that he could be on the move this summer. While he’s a different type of profile to Mac Allister, the 22-year-old’s versatility could appeal to Slot and co.
