Arsenal will face PSG in the Champions League semi-final as Mikel Arteta's side look to win the competition for the first time in the club's history.

Real Madrid were left stunned on Wednesday evening as the Gunners came away 2-1 winners on the night (5-1 over two legs). Goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli ensured progression into the semi-finals, where the French champions await.

Shortly after Arsenal's sensational win in Madrid, UEFA said in a statement that the semi-final ties and dates have been confirmed. Barcelona face Inter in the other semi-final.

Arsenal's first leg against PSG will take place on Tuesday, April 29 at the Emirates Stadium. The return leg will be played in Paris on Wednesday, May 7. Barcelona, meanwhile, host Inter in the first leg on Wednesday, April 30, with the second leg in Italy on Tuesday, May 6.

With Arsenal's first leg taking place in under two weeks' time, Arteta is already looking ahead. "We have an amazing tie now against PSG," the Spaniard told the media after beating Madrid. "A team that we know really well and we have already played against. So, it's time to get prepared for that one."

Looking ahead to the clash between the European giants, there will be a familiar feel to the occasion for Arsenal. That's because, just like their tie against Real Madrid, the north Londoners will play the first leg at Emirates Stadium. Two stunning Declan Rice free kicks and a strike from Mikel Merino ensured a dream night for the Gunners and there will be hope that can be repeated against the French side.

The result meant Arsenal knew exactly what needed to be done to progress to the semi-finals. Madrid looked to attack on their home turf in the second leg but the Gunners' defence remained firm and, in a way, it played into Arteta's hands.

Arsenal will want a lead going into the second leg at the Parc des Princes. Aston Villa have shown Luis Enrique's are beatable and defensively fragile, with Unai Emery's side scoring four goals over the two quarter-final legs.

Although without the likes of Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes, Arsenal looked solid in Madrid and will look to repeat that when they visit France on May 7. If successful, a place in the Champions League final could be on the agenda.
