Virgil van Dijk has signed a new two-year contract with Liverpool, the club confirmed on Thursday. The Dutchman follows Mohamed Salah in committing his future to the Reds, with his previous deal due to expire at the end of the current campaign. The centre-back joined Liverpool from Southampton for £75m back in 2018, and he has since made 314 appearances for the club.

Virgil van Dijk has penned a new two-year deal at Liverpool, the Reds announced on Thursday.
The Dutchman's future had been a cause for concern with his previous deal expiring at the end of the current campaign, but he has committed his future to Anfield to stay until 2027.
He follows Mohamed Salah in extending his contract at Anfield, after the Egyptian winger signed his new deal last week.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, the third key player whose contract expires this summer, is yet to agree on a renewal, amid fierce interest from Real Madrid in his services.
However, Van Dijk has ended all the rumours about his future to continue his new relationship with his manager and compatriot Arne Slot, who has led the Merseyside outfit to the summit of the Premier League table.
Liverpool are 13 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with six games to play.
Van Dijk has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup twice, and the Club World Cup in his time at Anfield, and he could add a second English top-flight medal come the end of the 2024/25 season, a crown that would equal Manchester United's record of 20 league titles.
He joined Liverpool from Southampton for £75m back in January 2018, and has become one of the best centre-backs in the world.

The former Celtic man, now 33, said of his renewal: "It's a proud feeling, it's a feeling of joy. It's just incredible.
"The journey I've had so far in my career, to be able to extend it with another two years at this club is amazing and I'm so happy.
"It was always Liverpool. That was the case. It was always in my head, it was always the plan and it was always Liverpool.
"There wasn't any doubt in my head that this is the place to be for me and my family. I'm one of Liverpool. Someone called me the other day an adopted Scouser - I'm really proud to hear these things, it gives me a great feeling."
