Jonny Evans earns Celtic transfer tip as Man Utd hero touts Brendan Rodgers reunion in Glasgow
The veteran stopper played under the current Hoops gaffer during his stint down south as Leicester City boss
Jonny Evans has earned a Celtic transfer tip - with the veteran looking increasingly likely to leave Manchester United.
The Northern Ireland cap is ready to bring his time at Old Trafford to an end and a former Red Devils hero has touted a sensational move north of the border to the Hoops, which would bring a reunion between the stopper and Brendan Rodgers.
Evans played under the current Celtic gaffer during his time in charge of Leicester City and the 37-year-old has been mentioned by Teddy Sheringham as a player he could see turning out in the green and white in Glasgow's east end.
Rodgers has a wealth of options at centre-back with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Liam Scales his main trio. Maik Nawrocki has also impressed in recent outings when called upon including the derby defeat to Rangers - although his future beyond the summer remains unclear.
Youngster Dane Murray is also on the books and has been in and around the squad after impressing at Queen's Park on loan.
Stephen Welsh is another who will return from a loan stint in Belgium to beef up those ranks once more.
However, with an exit from the EPL giants on the horizon, Sheringham has touted Parkhead as a potential destination for the veteran.
He was linked with a reunion two years ago when Rodgers returned to Parkhead for his second stint.
Speaking to CasinoHawks, Sheringham stated: "Jonny Evans has been a top professional over the years. I don't think he should have left Manchester United in the first place.
"Since he came back, I don't think he expected to play as many games as he did and at his age it probably took a toll on his body.
"Can I see him at Celtic? Yeah. If he wants to carry on playing it won’t be easy at any level, but it would definitely be a lot easier to play in Scotland rather than playing for Manchester United and especially the current situation and the pressure that comes with that."
