Newcastle United are on the hunt for central defence reinforcements and Bournemouth youngster Dean Huijsen's future remains up in the air at present. This week brought speculation, via the Athletic, that Newcastle had met with the 19-year-old's representatives, along with Liverpool, Arsenal and other top clubs.

With a £50m release clause, one of those Premier League heavyweights is poised to land a potential future superstar this summer. This week, Huijsen himself was quizzed over his immediate future and those aforementioned, interested parties as Bournemouth stutter in their European hunt.

“I'm very calm. I don't really focus on it, now is not the time, I'm just focused on finishing the season well,” Huijsen told Sky Sports. "My dad is my agent, he fixes everything.

"I don't read anything, I don't think about it too much, I'm just focusing on my football and working hard."

Huijsen arrived on the south coast from Juventus this season for a fee of just £12m. At 20, the Spaniard has the world at his feet and a plethora of potential.

Bournemouth have enjoyed a successful season but of late have stumbled in their pursuit of a top-six finish. After just one win in the Cherries' last five top flight outings, they now sit six points off a European finish, adding further doubt over Huijsen's future.

"We're doing well and I think we can qualify for Europe. We have the quality and the potential," the defender said recently."Who wouldn't want to play in Europe? I think everyone would like that.

"It would go down in the history of the club. It would be great for all of the players, fans and everyone involved. I think it is realistic with how we are playing.

"We are doing well and all of the stats show that it's not just luck and we deserve to be here. We just need to keep on working hard, stay humble and continue proving ourselves."
