Mohamed Salah named three players he'd love to play with including Man Utd hero
Mohamed Salah has named three players that he has aspirations of playing alongside one day, including a Manchester United club legend despite the side's fierce rivalry with Liverpool
Mohamed Salah previously named Kevin De Bruyne, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the three fellow footballers he would love to play with. The Egyptian King has just signed a new two-year deal with Liverpool, putting to bed rumours of any potential exit.
With 243 goals and 112 assists to his name with the Reds, and a second Premier League title on the horizon as Liverpool continue to lead the pack, Salah will undoubtedly go down in the annals of history as one of the Premier League's greatest ever players.
However, it's an accolade that he will share alongside the likes of De Bruyne and Ronaldo, who have each made their own impact on the top-flight with their respective Manchester clubs. Meanwhile, Messi will go down as one of the greatest ever players the world has ever seen - with eight Ballon d'Ors, 12 league titles and four Champions Leagues across his stints with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Miami.
Speaking in 2023 about the players that he would love to share the pitch with, Salah told Sky Sports: "Messi or Ronaldo, but if I pick one in the Premier League then I'd choose Kevin. He has vision, I'm sure he can find me anywhere with the ball so I would say Messi, Ronaldo and then Kevin.
"He's a great player, the whole team (City) is great. But I just try to play my game and not focus on anyone else." After breaking through the youth system of Genk, De Bruyne had a two-year stint with Chelsea and a year with VfL Wolfsburg before being brought to the Etihad by Pep Guardiola in 2015 in a £54.5million deal.
In the ten years since, he has scored 107 goals and provided 177 assists, scooped six Premier League titles, nine domestic cups, and a Champions League. However, the now 33-year-old recently took to social media to announce that the 2024/25 campaign will be his final dance with the Cityzens.
In an emotional message posted to Instagram earlier this month, De Bruyne wrote: "Dear Manchester. Seeing this, you probably realise where this is heading. So I'll get straight to it and let you all know that these will be my final months as a Manchester City player.
"Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here - and you deserve to hear it from me first. Football led me to all of you - and to this city. Chasing my dream, not knowing this period would change my life.
"This city. This club. These people... gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back! And guess what - we won EVERYTHING. Whether we like it or not, it's time to say goodbye. Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele and I are beyond grateful for what this place has meant to our family. 'Manchester' will forever be on our kids' passports - and more importantly, in each of our hearts.
"This will always be our HOME. We cannot thank the city, club, staff, team-mates, friends, and family enough for this 10-year ride. Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter. Let's enjoy these last moments together! Much love, KDB 17."
Messi and Ronaldo, on the other hand, are considered as the two pre-eminent players of the modern era and regularly contest the greatest of all time debate. Ronaldo spent six years at Manchester United between 2003 and 2009, before returning for one last dance with the club in 2021, following successful spells with Real Madrid and Juventus.
At the age of 40, the Portuguese forward is still going strong in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr. Likewise Salah, despite being significantly younger than Ronaldo at 32, has shown no signs of slowing down any time soon.
The talisman has netted 27 Premier League goals this term alone, and has been instrumental in Liverpool's race for the title under new boss Arne Slot. As it stands, the Reds are 13 points clear of second-place Arsenal with six games left to play.
