Darwin Nunez and four Liverpool stars drop team news hints amid Arne Slot warning
Liverpool will be in Premier League action at the King Power Stadium this afternoon
Darwin Nunez and other Liverpool stars have dropped team news hints ahead of what could be a historic day for the club. The Reds could claim their 20th Premier League title if they beat Leicester City and Arsenal fall to defeat at Ipswich Town.
Currently, 13 points separates the teams heading into the final six games of the season. Even if the title celebrations are delayed, Arne Slot's side only need a maximum of six points from the remaining six games.
Therefore, they could clinch the title next weekend, at home to Tottenham Hotspur even if their rivals win against Ipswich and Crystal Palace on Wednesday. However, the Dutch boss is solely focussed on the game against Leicester.
"My thoughts are not on that at all," Slot said. "My thoughts are, as always, on Leicester and on our team: how to improve, what can we do better.
"We couldn’t do many things better in the first half against West Ham [United] but we could do a lot of things better in the second half. So, during the start of the week we have worked on that a lot and now we are working towards Leicester. One game at a time and influence the one we can influence, and that’s the Leicester game."
Ahead of the clash, Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Jarell Quansah and Cody Gakpo have posted pre-match graphic previews of the Leicester fixture to their Instagram story. Historically, this means they will be involved in some capacity.
The Uruguayan striker, who missed the 2-1 win over West Ham, could return to the fold this afternoon. As for Szoboszlai, he will be looking to make his 25th league start after coming on as a second half substitute last time out.
Gravenberch, meanwhile, has been an ever-present member of the squad, starting all 32 league games so far, while Quansah has been limited to fewer minutes this season.
Gakpo, too, has had a mixed season, starting just 17 league games. In the last three matches against Everton, Fulham, and West Ham, the Dutchman began on the bench.
Slot will be hopeful of welcoming Trent Alexander-Arnold back after recovering from an injury sustained during the Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
"[He is] not [ready] to start but if things go well today and tomorrow, he might – might – be on the bench," Slot explained.
"But definitely not to start because he is out for five-and-a-half weeks and this is today probably his first session with the team. It was Wednesday I think he did parts of the team session. So he’s not able to start but hopefully he can be able to join us."
