Wayne Rooney's son Kai, 15, scores sublime goal for Man Utd as fans deliver same verdict
Wayne Rooney's son, Kai, has been impressing for Man United at youth level and scored a stunning goal in a recent friendly against Real Sociedad's under-17 side that has got fans excited
Wayne Rooney's son Kai is turning heads at Manchester United after scoring a brilliant goal for their under-17s.
Since joining the Red Devils back in 2020, Kai has been impressing through the ranks and on the weekend, the 15-year-old scored a goal reminiscent of his legendary dad while playing for the U-17s.
Young Rooney showcased his immense talent against Real Sociedad's youth team as he displayed a deft first touch, pace, and power. Kai brought a long ball down perfectly into his path before shrugging off defenders and finishing past the keeper with his left foot.
The teenager's skill has fans buzzing on social media, with several calling for him to join the senior squad amidst the team's current struggles. Fans have found comparisons between father and son, seeing Wayne's aggressive playing style in Kai.
Supporters took to social media to clamber for his rise into the first-team. One commented: "Plays exactly like his dad, with Aggressiveness and power."
A second said: "It is crazy that Wazza been doing this at PL at the age of 17. Such an underrated legend! Hope we get to see Kai at the first team."
A third wrote: "This man is better than what we currently have." A fourth agreed, saying: "Already better than Hojlund." While another added: "Get him on the 1st team bench at least."
Kai's latest strike is just the most recent highlight in his promising journey with United, where he bagged an incredible 56 goals in his first season alone.
Wayne has thrown his support behind his son Kai's footballing ambitions, sharing with Gary Neville: "My physique, but he'll be taller than me and he's a goalscorer, he's in the box, he sniffs chances out and that's his game, so he's doing okay."
Neville probed further, asking: "Obviously you can't remember yourself, but is he at that sort of level where you think he's got a chance, or is it too early?"
Rooney weighed in with his thoughts, saying: "I think it's too early, you never know. I think he's showing potential and good signs.
"So he's obviously he'll be at United now for the next two years and that's when they make decisions on you so just wait and see."
Kai's form comes as United fans continue to grow restless with Rasmus Hojlund, who blanked again in front of goal against Wolves on the weekend in the 1-0 defeat.
Joshua Zirkzee has been ruled out for the rest of the season, just as he looked to find form. While Chido Obi Martin is not registered to play in the Europa League.
