Tottenham make final decision on Ange Postecoglou future with key ally set to leave

Ange Postecoglou's chances of remaining Tottenham manager next season are fading fast - and it's not just poor results that could decide his fate. Spurs are 16th in the Premier League following the 2-1 defeat by Nottingham Forest on Monday night and Postecoglou is under huge pressure as the season nears its end.
Defeat by Forest was Tottenham's 18th of the season in the Premier League - one short of the club's worst ever tally in the division. The fact Spurs remain in the Europa League, where they will play Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals, has kept Postecoglou in a job.
Spurs face the Norwegian side in the first leg on May 1, but decisions are already being pondered behind the scenes at the club. Chairman Daniel Levy is looking ahead to a crucial summer transfer window and Postecoglou's failure to get any kind of consistency from his players is weighing heavily.
As Mirror Football have reported, Fulham boss Marco Silva is admired, as is Andoni Iraola, although he is expected to stay with Bournemouth. Postecoglou has remained bullish on his future and has been able to cling onto the Europa League as a potential silver bullet.

There is a feeling behind the scenes at Spurs that Postecoglou's days as manager are numbered, regardless of results. One factor that could go against him is the exit of chief football officer Scott Munn, who is reportedly leaving in the summer.
Munn is one of Postecoglou's allies at Spurs and his departure will add to the feeling that widespread changes are needed. The report states that technical director Johan Lange is a fan of Brentford manager Thomas Frank.
Postecoglou recently admitted he had "no idea" whether he would still be Spurs boss next season. But he has remained steadfast in defence of his philosophy, even while showing signs of stress.
“I came to this club with a clear purpose and vision of what the club needed and what I could offer,” he said. “That is to change the way the team plays, to obviously rejuvenate the squad because it was a squad that was coming towards the end of a cycle and to bring success.
“As long as I’m in this position, that’s always my focus, irrespective of whatever noise there is or what there may or not be in the future. I don’t see that that should diminish my burning ambition, my desire and my determination to make that happen.
“Anything you achieve in life usually comes with a struggle. Certainly everything I have achieved in my life has come with a struggle from a professional perspective. This is just another struggle, but never through this struggle have I lost the will to fight for what I think is the right thing to do and I’ll continue to do that.”
