Bailey Rice set for new Rangers contract as Sean Dyche gets major endorsement – Ibrox news bulletin
The young midfielder's current deal will expire in summer 2026 but club chiefs are keen to get him tied down beyond then.
Bailey Rice is set to be handed a new contract by Rangers.
The young midfielder put pen to paper on a extension in 2023 after joining from Motherwell the previous year.
HIs current Ibrox deal is due to expire in summer 2026 but club chiefs are eager to get him tied down on a longer deal after impressing in his first team outings this season.
Talks are ongoing, but the Rangers Review claim that Rice is expected to commit his future to the Light Blues.
Gers are likely to be hunting for a new manager this summer and Ally McCoist has revealed who he'd take in the hot seat.
Sean Dyche is out of work since leaving Everton and McCoist would love to see him at Ibrox.
He told talkSport: "I’d take Sean [Dyche at Rangers] all day.
"I think Sean Dyche is an excellent manager, excellent. His work at Burnley was nothing short of remarkable."
Meanwhile key figure in the impending Rangers takeover has predicted a 'major overhaul' behind the scenes this summer.
A deal that will see 49ers Enterprises take a controlling share in the Ibrox club is still going through all the necessary legal checks and a definitive timeline has been hard to pin down.
But Dubai-based Scottish finance and property expert Andy Mason, who helped set the wheels in motion with Andrew Cavenagh and his consortium, believes sweeping changes are coming when the takeover is finally rubber stamped.
Record Sport exclusively revealed that Gers are close to appointing a new sporting director after a two months search led by CEO Patrick Stewart.
And that will be far from the only change according to Mason.
"It’s a hugely exciting time to be a Rangers fan right now and, like everyone else, I’m keen to see what the future looks like as and when the deal goes through," he told the Daily Mail.
"The expertise that the 49ers could bring to the table could be game-changing. From a business perspective, to be able to tap into that is gold dust.
"I think you will probably see a major shake-up behind the scenes at Rangers over the coming months."
Mason also admits he would certainly consider a role within the new Rangers regime. "Yeah, of course I would be," he added.
"Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy doing what I do here in Dubai. I have a good life out here and enjoy what I do.
"It’s not just a case of jumping at it because it’s Rangers. It’s a case of feeling like I could go in there and make a genuine difference on the business side of things.
"When it comes to things like dealing with sponsors and unlocking new revenue streams, that’s where I feel like I could bring something to the table.
‘The club have a huge opportunity to start afresh in the summer. For me, I think they should be looking outside the box.
"It’s common in football to see a lot of people float around from club to club in these executive type of positions.
"I think it would be refreshing and ultimately beneficial if the club looked beyond that. Getting things right off the pitch is of equal importance as to what happens on the pitch.
"When the takeover is completed, I envisage they will probably have a major shake-up at the back-of-house.
"If the chance came along to work with the club and move things forward, to answer your question, of course I would be interested."
