Plymouth boss in subtle dig at former Birmingham City boss Wayne Rooney
Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive brings you what is being said as the battle for Championship survival intensifies
Plymouth boss Miron Muslic is adamant they would already be safe from relegation if he had been in charge all season.
In what appeared to be a subtle dig at former Birmingham City boss Wayne Rooney, Argyle still have a chance of Championship survival with two games remaining.
Muslic has done a fine job since replacing Rooney who left Argyle on New Year's Eve with the club having endured a terrible first half to the season.
But Muslic inspired Plymouth to victory over playoff chasing Coventry on Monday leaving them three points adrift of safety with two games left to play.
And he is adamant that they would not be in this position had he been in place all season.
"I think if I'm the head coach from day one we will be far, far away from the relegation zone, we will be safe five games ago," he said.
"I truly believe if I will be here with my staff from day one, we will be nowhere near where we are right now.
"The performance today, the performance at Middlesbrough [where they lost 2-1]
"We've taken nine points at Home Park against Norwich, against Sheffield United, against Coventry.
"These are teams playing for the Premier League and they all lost here in Plymouth at Home Park, that gives me the confidence."
