Re-live Mail Sport's live blog for the latest score, team news and updates as Arsenal hosted Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League

The show goes on

So not quite yet for Liverpool. But maybe they are happy about that.

Thanks for your company tonight. A strange game, with two teams who had their minds elsewhere in an up and down game. But, overall, an enjoyable one.

I'll leave you with Ian's take from tonight. Click here or below to read it.

Thanks again. Keep an eye on the site for all the reaction. See ya!

'We didn't hit the standards required in the Premier League'

Mikel Artea, Arsenal manager, speaking to Sky Sports:

We are disappointed with the result and the perfomance. We didn't find enough control, we had periods of dominance but gave sloppy balls away and the defensive standards dropped.
It can be realy difficult. We didn't hit the standards required for the Premier League. The game is then there for the opposition to hurt you.
We require the consistency in the competitions we play in. Palace were very organised and deserve credit but as well we need to be critical of ourselves.

Player ratings from the Emirates

Here's Aadam's take from the Emirates, with our man rating each player out of 10.

Makes for really intriguing reading. One player gets as low as four, while the highest stands at 7.5.

Do you agree with his takes? Have a read by clicking here or below and let me know in the comments.

Glum Arsenal?

A lot of dropped heads for Arsenal this evening.

I get it. They were at home to a mid-table side who have nothing to play for in terms of the league and failed to win the game.

But their minds are elsewhere too. And now they have a full six days to focus on their Champions League first leg tie next week.

Your comments

  • Sonne, Liverpool: Arsenal try and keep up haha
  • Iamdaniella, South Africa: Pathetic. They didn't even look like they wanted to win, all thoughts on the champions league. Be a struggle to get 2nd place now.
  • Woody1966, Sancbach: Don’t care about Arsenal, certainly not on edge of seat tonight, title race is over anyway, would rather officially confirm at Anfield on Sunday!! YNWA

Mateta: 'I knew if we won it high that he wouldn't be in his goal'

Jean-Philippe Mateta, Crystal Palace forward, Sky Sports:

I watched the first half, Raya was very high. When I came on I knew if we won high he wouldn't be in his goal. So I tried it. I was scared the ball hit the crossbar and I waited until the end and I was happy.
We stuck to our plans. We struggled in the last three games. We listen to the gaffer and today was a good game for us.
We have confidence and hopefully we will win at the weekend. It is a good game for the fans and for everyone and I can't wait for Saturday.

The updated table

And here's what tonight does for the league table.

The 12-point gap, then, for Arsenal. They have four to play, Liverpool five. Liverpool have the better goal difference, for what it's worth, but that would change if Arsenal could somehow catch them.

Will they be watching over their shoulers? Maybe.

For Palace, top-eight hopes are drifting. But, again, both sides have their eyes set on bigger achievements.

21:00

The perfect result?

So the title race - hardly - goes on. I'm talking myself versus Usain Bolt.

Four games left for Arsenal and they can only draw level with Liverpool now. One feels the title will be decided for sure this weekend.

'The perfect result for Liverpool,' Jamie Carragher brands it. In a way, I get it.

But perhaps a halt in momentum for the Gunners ahead of their Champions League semi-final. A boost for Palace, though, I'm sure.

20:57, 98'

FULL TIME: Arsenal 2-2 Crystal Palace

Lots of possession, but little breaking down. They now have the ball at the back as the Emirates let out one final roar of encouragement.

A ball in is headed out with ease. Trossard crosses, and Henderson claims.

That's your lot. Points shared, title not yet decided.

20:55, 997'

Arsenal 2-2 Crystal Palace

Palace brust forward again and Mateta almost gets on the end of a fierce cross from the right.

Arsenal then on the ball with three minutes left.

Mateta has just been given player of the match by Alan Smith on Sky. He's only been on the pitch 25 minutes. Fair play.

Perhaps one more chance in this for Arsenal...

20:53

'Palace look capable of winning this'

Its difficult to believe such as pedestrian game has reached such a fraught conclusion.
Palace carry much more threat with Mateta up front and suddenly look capable of winning this.
20:50, 92'

CLOSE! Arsenal 2-2 Crystal Palace

The Gunners onvthe ball. Palace happy to settle for a point.

Rice wins an attacking throw. Tierney crosses - Henderson gathers.

Eight minutes added on. A roar from the home crowd.

OH MY! Saiba has to block what looks a certain goal from Sarr following a cross from Mateta. Liverpool had one hand on the title.

At the other end, Martinelli slices wide.

So close!

20:46, 88'

Arsenal 2-2 Crystal Palace

Arsenal will push for a winner now, but one more for Palace and the title is done.

Two more changes for Arsenal. Lewis-Skelly and Odegaard off, Tierney and Nwaneri on.

A mistake from Kiwior now and Saliba has to mop up. A very uncharacteristically dodgy defensive performance from the Gunners tonight.

20:44

'It would be a terrific boost before Wembley'

That’s woken everyone up. Excessive celebrations on the Palace bench. A point here would give them a terrific boost before Wembley.
Careless by Arsenal though… guilty of nodding off and thinking the game was won.

Goal:Arsenal 2-2 Crystal Palace (Mateta 83')

Lewis-Skelly and Mateta get into a bit of a barging match, with it ending with Sarr firing well over.

OHHHHH WHAT A GOAL! MATETA!

He's not been in the best form lately, but that is an unreal finish.

A poor pass from Saliba sees Mateta pick it up on the turn and he skins Odegaard. He knows where Raya is, and clips a fine chipped effort into the roof of the goal.

What a finish!

One more and Liverpool are champions...

20:39

'He barely put a foot right'

Warm applause from Arsenal fans for Nketiah as he goes off having barely put a foot right against them.
20:39, 81'

WHAT A SAVE! Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Palace break and it's going to be the last action for one or two of the players with subs waiting to come on. Raya gathers Mitchell's cross.

WOW! Huge save as Henderson gets across his goal to save from Saka at the back post. A strong, one-handed save.

It's Mateta and Esse who are coming on. Nketiah and Devenny off. Chants of 'Eddie, Eddie' around the Emirates.

Quite the throw of the dice from Glasner.

Corner from Rice sees Trossad head into the side netting.

20:37

'More frustration for Glasner'

Another scream of frustration from Glasner as another promising attacking situation fizzled out with a poor final ball.
Esse and Matata are coming on but Palace look like they’re going into the FA Cup semi final on the back of four without a win.
20:31, 73'

NO GOAL! Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

The ball is about four foot in the air when Timber hooks it back into play. But they are still checking for offside, in fact. The big screen says that, at least.

Ah. The offside is cleared, but a goal line camera has shown that the ball was out of play.

No goal. Still all to play for.

20:29, 71'

VAR! Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Arsenal come forward now and Odegaard shoots but it hits Rice!

Oh! The ball ends up in the back of the net as Timber lifts the ball to the back post and Martinelli puts it in.

The linesman has flagged for offside but it isn't. They are now checking whether the ball is in or not...

So hard to tell...

20:27, 69'

CLOSE! Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Another corner for Palace. Deep to Munoz, and it goes all the way across goal!

Raya came to claim it again and once again got nowehere near it. I think it was Sarr and Guehi moving towards it, but it ran agonisingly wide. Is Raya alright?

20:25, 67'

CHANCE! Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Raya sloppy once again as he blasts a pass out of play. Andrea Berta has just been shown on the Sky cameras - he will be busy this season.

OH! Great chance for Devenny, who completely mis-times his header - a free one on the edge of the six-yard box. Luckily for him, it's still dipping in and Raya has to tip over.

The corner finds Guehi, and Raya saves again. Palace aren't out of this!

20:22, 64'

Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

They are indeed, Matt, and on they come.

Two of the players who dropped out after the weekend. Sarr replaces Eze, and Hughes for Wharton. Rests for two of their more important players.

27ish minutes to make a difference, then. Palace on the ball.

Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Another nervy moment for Raya, who just about gets to the ball before an attacker when passing out from the back.

Frustration then for Sterling, who bizarrely leans away from a ball in when Mitchell misses a cross.

That's his last action, too. Here's Saka. Huge cheers.

'What will happen to Sterling in the summer?'

Watching Raheem Sterling labouring here tonight makes me wonder once again what will happen to him this summer.
It’s hard to see Arsenal doing anything other than send him back to Chelsea where he still has two years left on a big money contract. Saudi?

20:12, 54'

Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Matt Turner, also ex-Arsenal, is out warming up, but a stretch or two and Henderson is fine to carry on.

I think Timber is also a bit hurt, but he is going to try and run it off.

Both sides are enjoying short periods of possession but without really creating anything. Nketiah slips and is disposessed in the latest turnover.

20:07, 50'

INJURY! Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Another fast start from Arsenal. Sterling whips in a cross from the right, headed away in the box.

Devenny picks up Palace's first yellow card for a foul on Lewis-Skelly.

This one will go into the box again via Odegaard on the left. In it goes - Henderson doesn't quite get there but he does hit the deck. The referee lets some pinball play out before blowing his whistle.

Don't think there's a foul in there as it's a collision with Nketiah, but he stays down so play is stopped.

20:03, 46'

SECOND HALF: Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

The players are back out for the second half. Again, Palace need two for Liverpool to be champions tonight.

No changes for either side. I'm sure we will see Saka soon, but not quite yet.

19:59

'It has been subdued for the most part'

Palace fans going through their repertoire about the Emirates atmosphere and it has been subdued for the most part.
They’re having fun in the away end though taunting the Arsenal supporters about their silent stadium and another year as runners-up…
19:53

Arsenal clinical

Half-way through this one then and it's all to play for after a good first half.

Arsenal started brightly and Kiwior's header seemed to be a sign of things to come, but they were a bit slack at the back and Palace had chances to equalise before they did.

Still, it was a great strike that saw the goal come and Palace have had the better chances. Arsenal, though have been largely clinical.

Saka won't be far away, I imagine.

19:48, 45'

HALF TIME: Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Another break from Arsenal and Guehi has to fire a cross over the bar for a Gunners corner. Palace have to be careful not to concede again before the break.

Rice takes, headed back across goal by Odegaard, but Palace clear.

Two minutes added on. Arsenal happy to keep the ball for the rest of the half and that's what they do.

A little bit of panic at the end of the half as Rice fouls Nketiah and is booked, but the free kick is headed away.

Palace need two unanswered goals in the second half if Liverpool are to win the league tonight.

19:45

'Oliver Glasner is fuming'

It's a goal against the run of play and Oliver Glasner is fuming. He was telling his players to push up and they didn't.

19:42, 42'

Goal:Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace (Trossard 42')

Arsenal on the hunt now to go ahead again... and they do it!

Good from Timber on the right, and he fires a pass into Trossard on the edge of the box at good speed.

Really good footwork from the Belgian, who cuts onto his left, duping Lerma. Lacroix comes across to help his mate, but the shot goes into the bottom corner off his studs.

Trossard won't care. Three in two for him, and 10 for the season in his 50th appearance.

19:40, 41'

Arsenal 1-1 Crystal Palace

Trossard hits the deck hard after a challenge from Eze and Rice this time will deliver the free-kick from distance.

He whips it in, the line high again. The Gunners players are gathered, but it's an easy clearance.

Sterling then cops one from Guehi and spends a short period on the floor, but he's OK to carry on.

19:35

'A goal worth waiting for'

Palace have been threatening to hurt Arsenal with some smart switches of play from deep and with better composure in key areas may have equalised from open play.
The goal from a set piece was still worth waiting for, though. Eze’s technique was perfect as he took the shot on the volley.
Palace level and deservedly so. Open game, this.
19:30, 31'

WHAT A BLOCK! Arsenal 1-1 Crystal Palace

The game and atmosphere has picked up a bit now.

A golden chance for Nketiah! The forward has so much time with the ball at his feet in the box, fed by Eze.

Kiwior holds him up, but he's about five yards out. Arsenal should be behind.

The corner ends with Eze firing over.

19:29

'What a sumptuous finish'

It's a lovely goal and you can't say that it hasn't been coming. What a sumptuous finish by Ebere Eze.
One of my colleagues in the press box says he'd prefer it if it went straight in rather than bouncing first. I disagree. Eze knows exactly what he's doing.

19:27, 27'

Goal:Arsenal 1-1 Crystal Palace (Eze 27')

Devenny threads a pass through to Nketiah and it threatens to find a way through, but Saliba mops up.

Palace corner now as they keep the pressure on. Wharton crosses, OH WHAT A GOAL!

That is absoutely sensational. Wharton chips his corner to the edge of the box, and Eze volleys. It's into the ground, and goes in off the right post.

16-16 for set peice goals this season, and I think I heard a faint cheer in Liverpool.

19:24, 25'

CLOSE! Arsenal 1-0 Crystal Palace

Chants of 'Arsenal, Arsenal' break out after what has been a very quiet few minutes.

Close! Sterling tees up Rice after a neat one-two from Trossard and it oh so nearly creeps inside the left post.

Henderson beaten. Good strike, just not accurate enough.

19:21, 21'

Arsenal 1-0 Crystal Palace

Palace starting to enjoy more and more of the ball, now. Eze tries to spray it right to Munoz, but Martinelli intercepts.

Kamada finds Mitchell out wide, but his cross is too close to Raya.

Kiwior's long ball finds Trossard but Guehi recovers well. Munoz then crosses, but Arsenal intercept before Sterling slices a cross.

19:17

'There could have been goals at each end'

Glasner getting worked up on the touchline, cross with the mistakes his team are making on the ball. Same goes for both teams, though. Funny how fixtures with little on them lead to distraction and lost focus and mistakes.
And this often makes 15 a loose and enjoyable spectacle with chances and efforts at goal. Fifteen minutes in and there could’ve been goals at each end.

CHANCE! Arsenal 1-0 Crystal Palace

Sterling is almost fed on the right but an important interception prevents that from happening.

Oh, Palace have to score! Ball over Saliba's head finds Nketiah and Raya is in no man's land. Nketiah shoots, but it 's more of a cross. Kiwior gets the slightest of touches on it, and Devenny's touch is heavy.

Not great from Arsenal so far.

19:11

'Take your pick'

Palace boss Oliver Glasner said before kick off that he hoped a game against his old club could ignite Eddie Nketiah’s career.
Well failing to properly mark Arsenal goal scorer Jakub Kiwior at a straight forward set piece will not have helped with any of that.
Ignite or crash and burn? Take your pick.
19:09, 10'

CHANCE! Arsenal 1-0 Crystal Palace

Sloppy from Arsenal since the goal. Odegaard loses the ball in midfield and it ends with Eze heading out wide. Kamada shoots, and wins his side a corner.

Wharton whips it in. Raya comes and gets nowehre near it - Nketiah heads wide.

Good responde from Palace.

'How does he get so much time and space?'

It's a great header but that is such a poor goal to concede. How on earth has Jakub Kiwior got that much time and space?
That said, he does so well to direct that past Dean Henderson. It's his first goal since February 2024.
19:06, 6'

Arsenal 1-0 Crystal Palace

A free-kick of their own for Palace now. Arsenal clear, though Palace win a corner.

That is headed away by Rice. Munoz puts it back on across goal, and Raya gathers.

Martinelli then breaks after Raya releases quickly, but Mitchell sees it out.

What a header from Kiwior, by the way. He has quietly gone about his business since steppign in for the injured Gabriel.

Goal:Arsenal 1-0 Crystal Palace (Kiwior 3')

A subdued atmosphere before kick-off but Arsenal fans are in high spirits now the whistle has blown.

A familiar sight for Palace fans early doors as they see their side sitting off as their hosts enjoy possession. But only passes around the back.

Gabriel Martinelli wins an early free-kick, which will allow Arsenal to put the ball into the box. These two sides have the most set piece goals in the league this season, with 15 apiece.

Odegaard whips it in... AND WE HAVE OUR OPENER!

Palace, their fans singing about Wembley, hold a high line but Jakub Kiwior breaks it. He heads, beating Dean Henderson from the edge of the box.

Set piece goal No 16 for Arsenal, and those Liverpool players can probably already start thinking about heading home.

19:00, 1'

KICK OFF! Arsenal 0-0 Crystal Palace

Here we go!

Huddles all round. The Emirates come together for North London Forever - before one of their own - though in yellow rather than red - in Nketiah gets us underway

18:58

'Glasner can be forgiven for taking extra care'

Palace boss Glasner can be forgiven for taking extra care with one or two before Saturday’s FA Cup semi final… there’s no Richards, banned after his controversial red card against Bournemouth, while Sarr and Mateta start on the bench. Those two are so important to the way Palace play.
Atmosphere subdued inside the Emirates… there are bigger fixtures on the horizon for both clubs. This is a rehearsal for Palace vs Villa and Arsenal vs PSG. 10 mins before KO, there was not a lot of buzz beyond the distracted chatter of a half-empty stadium.
18:56

Here come the teams!

The teams are on their ways out at the Emirates. Martin Odegaard and Marc Guehi lead their sides out.

We await the tune of north London Forever. A great song, I must say. And I'm from Kent.

Palace are up against it here. You can already feel it - but they will back themselves.

18:54

'The main event is still six days away'

The Emirates has the feeling of a place waiting for the main event – and it’s still six days away.
Arsenal may still technically be in the Premier League title race with Liverpool but they know it’s over. It’s all about the Champions League from this point on.
PSG home and away in the semi-final will define the season for Mikel Arteta and his players now and with that in mind tonight is all about building on the momentum of Sunday’s big win at Ipswich and avoiding any unnecessary injuries.
With that in mind, it makes perfect sense to me that Bukayo Saka is on the bench here.
18:51

Nketiah's big chance

Oliver Glasner has just said on Sky Sports that he is hopeful a game against his former club has ignite Eddie Nketiah's Crystal Palace career tonight.

It's not gone as the forward would have wanted since he joined the club from the Gunners in the summer. He is second choice No 9 behind Mateta, and has managed just one Premier League goal in 24 matches this term.

A run of games could help, but tonight, I would imagine, is rotation. Unless he can put on a showing to throw his name into the hat for the weekend, of course.

Players get warm

A nice reception for Arsenal players are they carry out their pre-match preparations. It's only getting chillier.

I think Gunners fans are resigned to missing out on the league - why wouldn't you be - but they also understand that there is something else to fight for.

It will be a good atmosphere inside the Emirates tonight.

Carragher: 'I am sitting on the fence'

Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool defender, Sky Sports:

In an ideal world, the game would be a draw tonight. Most Liverpool supporters want to win the league an Anfield. The players are together.
If Arsenal draw, they have two options at the weekend. I am on the fence tonight.

'Visit Tottenham'

A group of Gunners supporters have opted for a satirical approach in their campaign against the club's sponsorship deal with Visit Rwanda.

Gunners For Peace unveiled a 'Visit Tottenham' billboard outside the Emirates Stadium and said that the club's supporters would rather visit their arch rivals than continue to support the African regime.

Last month, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) government wrote a letter to Arsenal owners Stan and Josh Kroenke asking that they end the ‘blood-stained sponsorship deal’ after an invasion of DRC territory involving Rwanda-backed rebel group M23.

The invasion of the city of Goma, home to about as many people as the populations of Leeds and Newcastle combined, has caused an estimated 3,000 deaths, according to United Nations officials.

Sterling gets a go

Raheem Sterling is still a Chelsea player. He signed a five-year deal, believed to be worth well over £300,000, in 2022. So he still has two years to go.

He clearly isn't wanted there. Arsenal probably don't want him either. But he does start tonight - probably on the left - and he is in dire need of showing what he showed for the likes of Manchester City and England all those years ago.

This season, he has one goal in 25 games. How he'd love another tonight.

Inside the home dressing room

Some pretty cool shots here from inside the home dressing room at the Emirates this evening.

The Gunners players are in good spirits. Why wouldn't you be? About to play at a positive home ground, favourites for victory and in a Champions League semi-final.

Sounds alright to me.

Timber: 'It is important we finish second'

Jurrien Timber, Arsenal defender, speaking to Sky Sports:

The rest was needed for me, I needed some days. But then at the same time I need to play a game and get some minutes.
It is important to get second. We are in a good position but every time you step on the pitch you give eveything and we want a nice night for us and the fans.
A win would give a good feeling and confidence. We are going to need the atmosphere in the Emirates.

Arsenal could cause Champions League rule changes

Just wanted to share this ahead of kick-off.

Arsenal are of course in the semi-finals of the Champions League, but could also trigger three rule changes ahead of next season.

Reports suggest that, following a complaint from the Gunners, UEFA have taken note.

If you want to know what they are, you are going to have to click here or below to find out!

Palace in the building

And here are the Palace players.

Eze is of course again in the XI today. He did have that second half rest at the weekend.

He will be without his two mates, though, with Sarr and Mateta benched in favour of Kamada and Nketiah.

They will need to be better than Saturday - even with 11 men - to get a result.

18:14

The Rice man

I apologise for that pun.

Is Declan Rice the best midfielder in the world right now? Some Barcelona and PSG stars may have something to say about that, but you could definitely make a solid argument.

He showed up countryman Jude Bellingham over both legs against Real Madrid and we all know about the free-kicks by now.

He truly is thriving in this eight position. Expect him to play a key role again tonight.

Glasner: 'We have confidence'

Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace manager:

It gives us confidence, even when we are one man down, for 50 minutes we created dangerous situations and looked quite consistent in our defence, and this will be very important.
Arsenal are in great shape, beating twice Real Madrid and playing at home ,and therefore we need to be very strong in defending, very committed in defending.
We need to work very hard on the other side and we need to create situations in offence, we need to get the game into their half, we need to get finishes, we need to get set plays, and so of course the last games can help us – but I would suggest not conceding a red card again.

Jack Wilshere: The manager

Jack Wilshere has his first senior role in football management, taking over at Norwich for the foreseeable as interim boss.

It's a nice sight for Arsenal fans. He will do battle with Aaron Ramsey's Cardiff soon too. Gosh, I feel old.

Mikel Artera, Arsenal boss:

Yeah, we're wishing him the best. Obviously, he's decided to accept the role with the games that are left. The same with Aaron as well.
It's very good to see some ex-team-mates taking important roles in management. So we're wishing the best to both of them.

Tonight's setting

It's a cold on in north London today. Will be about 11 degrees by kick off.

It's been raining today too. So no need for spriklers. Saving money and all that.

Anyway, the Emirates pitch is as prestine as it always is. Kick off is roughly one hour and five minutes away.

The Gunners are in town

Arsenal stars have arrived at the Emirates ahead of tonight, walking down the traditional red corridor, tracksuits on.

Declan Rice is sporting a nice white bag too. I'm not educated enough to know the brand, or anything like that.

Game faces on, I guess.

Breaking:CRYSTAL PALACE TEAM NEWS: Mateta BENCHED

A lot more rotation for Palace, with Kamada coming into midfield, as well as Devenney and Nketiah.

Hughes, Sarr and Mateta drop out.

17:46

Breaking:ARSENAL TEAM NEWS: Saka BENCHED

There is indeed rotation for Arsenal tonight, but not as much as we may have expected.

The back five is at full strength, and so is the midfield, arguably.

Saka is indeed benched. Raheem Sterling gets a rare start, with Martinelli on the left and Trossard up front.

As you can't read the embed, I'll list the side:

Arsenal: Raya, Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Sterling, Martinelli, Trossard.

Subs: Neto, Tierney, Saka, Zinchenko, Butler-Oyedeji, Gower, Henry-Francis, Kabia, Nwaneri

17:39

Palace's drab run

Palace, meanwhile, drew 0-0 with Bournemouth.

I was at the game and, to be honest, it was one of the worst game's I've ever seen. I won't sugarcoat it.

I suppose they can be excused given they played over half the game with 10 men, but, my word, it was bad.

They will have looked at it as a positive. In their two games before, they were thumped 5-2 and 5-0 by Manchester City and Newcastle respectively.

I suppose it's all eyes on the FA Cup for Palace, similar to Arsenal with Europe. We'll see what that means for tonight.

17:35

Last time out

Their minds may be on Tuesday, but it doesn't stop them being a reslly good side.

Arsenal showed their class at the weekend when they beat Ipswich 4-0 at Portman Road. To be honest, it was a stroll, starting when Leandro Trossard passed the ball into the net and ending when Ethan Nwaneri fired in.

A bit of momentum, a bit of fun, and everyone through clean. Not much more to report, to be honest.

17:30

All eyes on Tuesday

Don't completely write tonight off, but, like I say, Arsenal's focus is defintely elsewhere.

On Tuesday, they have a Champions League semi-final first leg against PSG - arguably the form side in Europe right now.

It will be their biggest test yet. To be fair, we said that before they played Madrid, but PSG are a better side.

They are fortunate to not play this weekend. It gives them six days before the game at the Emirates.

Arteta would probably take a draw tonight if everyone came through uninjured. Dare I say maybe even a loss.

17:26

Liverpool: Champions in waiting

The Reds have, undoubtedly, been the best team in the league this season. They have stumbled a bit recently, but are 13 points clear for a reason.

Has their season been overshadowed by the treble contract saga? Maybe. Even as far as Saturday, when Trent Alexander-Arnold, scored the winner and patted the badge - drama.

But when all is said and done, it's about success and trophies, ultimately. The club and team is bigger than one player. And it's now just a matter of time until Premier League title No 2 is confirmed.

It will be a proper title this time. By proper, I mean in front of their fans. Would they rather win it in front of their fans this weekend against Tottenham? Maybe.

But Arsenal are going to fall short again. They are of course now prioritising the Champions League, but will be frustrated at missing out on the league title again.

Liverpool players to gather tonight

Let's talk a little bit about Liverpool, then. My apologies if you're a Gunners fan.

As I mentioned earlier, the Reds will be champions is Arsenal lose tonight. It's unlikely, but could still happen.

Captain and newest contract renewee Virgil van Dijk revealed after his side's late win over Leicester that the players would likely get together to watch the game. No question over who they will be supporting.

I hope someone has a camera on them. Could be quite chaotic.

Last time they faced off

These two, you may remember, faced off twice in a matter of days just before Christmas - once in the Premier League and once in the League Cup.

The first was in the Cup quarter-final on December 18, which Arsenal won 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Gabriel Jesus, who is now injured. Mateta gave Palace the lead, while Eddie Nketiah also scored against his former side, but the Gunners had the last laugh.

If they were laughing then, they were in hysterics three days later, with Arteta's men running our 5-1 winners at Selhurst Park. Jesus bagged a brace, while Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice also netted.

Click below for a recap of either game if you need to give your memory a little refresh.

Glasner: 'It was tactical to take Eze off'

Palace went down to 10 men just before half-time in the 0-0 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, with Ricards controversially given his marching orders just minutes after Alex Scott had survived a second yellow card for a very similar challenge.

At the break, it was Eberechi Eze who with sacraficed to bring on another defender. Glasner has explained why it was the England star who was taken off.

Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace manager:

Of course it was just a tactical sub at half time. When you expect to be a little bit deep then you are thinking which players can make these runs also to the back, then of course it’s clear with JP [Mateta], it’s clear with Ismaila, it’s clear with Dani Munoz, we had many of our attacks from the right side.
That was the only reason why we made this sub. It was to be compact in our defence but having these players who can also get the game into their half, get the game into their box.
Of course, set-plays is a huge topic and with JP’s head, with Ismaila Sarr’s head, we need them on the pitch.

17:11

To play or not to play

One man who a lot of eyes will, naturally, be on is Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal star is getting into his groove again after three months out injured, and has helped his side's attack tenfold since his return.

He is, though, vital. And any return of or new injury would be almost catastrophic. So it's about managing him where they can get the best out of him in as much time as poissible without that happening.

Mikel Arteta spoke about that in the build-up to this game, giving his verdict on his star man's playing time. Click here or below to read what he had to say!

17:08

Will they rotate?

Probably!

Palace have games coming out of their ears at the minute. They played last weekend, then in midweek, then at the weekend, now in midweek again before the weekend again.

Oliver Glasner has largely gone with the same side recently, but, ahead of a crunch FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa this weekned, he may see this as a game where he could rotate his players.

He's stretched in some areas, with Chris Richards suspended and a few injuries in midfield, but he will likely do what he can. Or he may just go full out.

Arsenal, meanwile, face PSG in their Champions League semi-final next week and went quite strong at home to Ipswich at the weekend. They will almost certainly change it up tonight.

There have already been some rumours floating around that Mikel Merino hasn't been seen with the team. We'll find out for sure when the XIs are announced at around 6:45pm.

17:04

How they stand going into tonight

Here's how they're looking in terms of the league table going into tonight, then.

Remember, it has to be a win for Palace if Liverpool are going to be crowned champions tonight. A draw would still technically give Arsenal a chance of being champions, but it would have to be the comeback of all comebacks if it were to happen.

The Gunners are safely wedged in a Champions League spot - they will almost certainly finish second. Palace are 12th, and have a faint chance of finishing eighth, which will likely be a Conference League spot, but their priorites will be elsewhere.

17:00

Is tonight the night?

Good evening one and all and welcome to Mail Sport's live coverage of Crystal Palace vs Arsenal in the Premier League this evening.

Just the one game tonight, with the match brought forward due to Palace's involvement in the FA Cup semis this weekend. But it could be a huge one.

If Palace win - and Arsenal lose - Liverpool will be champions. Arne Slot's side will be crowd in the Dutchman's first season since replacing Jurgen Klopp, winning their 20th league title and lifting the Premier League for the second time.

Palace are, though, out of form and taking on a Gunners side who very much are not. It's hard to see it being confirmed today - but you never know.

Anyway, kick off is scheduled for 8pm, and we'll have all the build up until then right here.
