Virgil van Dijk has issued a message as Liverpool moved a step closer to winning the Premier League title.

The Reds had the opportunity to be crowned league champions on Wednesday night as Arsenal faced Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw on home soil to see Liverpool move to within one point of winning the Premier League title.

Going into the match in north London, Liverpool needed just three points to be guaranteed as Premier League champions. Arsenal drawing with Palace means that the Reds just need one point going into their clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday at Anfield.

Liverpool can now win the title with either a draw or a win when they face Spurs this weekend. Ahead of the game, Van Dijk has sent a message on social media to Reds supporters.

Minutes after the final whistle between Arsenal and Crystal Palace, Van Dijk posted on his Instagram story, which did not feature a caption but used a previous post from Liverpool's account.

The post from Liverpool's official account was posted earlier in the week and read: "Back at Anfield on Sunday", with the Reds players on the pitch as supporters could be seen holding up their scarves in the background.

If Liverpool do get a point against Tottenham on Sunday, Van Dijk would go down in history as only the second captain of the club to win the league title for the Reds in the Premier League era, following Jordan Henderson back in 2020.

It would also see Arne Slot win the league title in his first season as Liverpool's head coach after replacing Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout last summer.
