Jamie Vardy has revealed that he will leave Leicester City at the end of the season in an emotional post on social media.
The England international scored 24 goals to inspire Leicester City to a remarkable Premier League title during the 2015-16 campaign.
During that same season, he surpassed his current manager Ruud van Nistelrooy's record for scoring in the most consecutive Premier League games, finding the back of the net in 11 matches in a row.
He also helped Leicester back into the English top flight last season, but he was unable to prevent their relegation to the Championship this term.
"To the fans of Leicester, I'm gutted that this day is coming, but I knew it was going to come eventually," he said in the video statement.
"After 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success and some downs, it is finally time to call it a day.
"I'm devastated about it, but I think the timing is right. I just want to sincerely thank you all for taking me in as one of your own.
"Leicester will always have a massive place in my heart and I will make sure that I am following in the years to come for what I hope will be even more success for the club.
"As for now, this is my goodbye, but you will see again soon, I promise. Thank you."
Leicester were condemned to an immediate return to the Championship after last weekend's 1-0 loss against Liverpool.
Vardy has scored 198 goals in 496 appearances for The Foxes since arriving at the club from Fleetwood Town in 2012.
He is also Leicester City's all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League with 143 goals.
The striker also helped the club win the 2021 FA Cup during his time at the King Power Stadium.
