Liverpool could be just days away from being named as Premier League Champions and confirming their 20th league title.

Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night means that just a point is needed from the remaining five games of the season. The first chance to get it comes on Sunday as the Reds host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield (4.30pm kick-off).

The anticipation for the match is building with Liverpool on the brink of glory. Planning for the new season will have already started behind the scenes, as the Reds turn one eye to a title defence.

Several players have already been linked ahead of the summer transfer window as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his team. There is also speculation about who may be leaving the club before the start of next season.

The Spain international has caught the eye with his performances for the Cherries. Reports this week claimed that Chelsea were favourites to sign him, but it seems that other clubs are ready to put up a fight.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the clubs said to be interested in the player who has a £50 million release clause in his contract. It is added by Florian Plattenberg that the clause can also be paid in three instalments, which would be attractive to Premier League clubs, given the PSR thoughts.

Real Madrid is reported to be the preference for Huijsen if they made an official move for him, but the offer of Champions League football is also reported to be a major consideration, with Liverpool able to offer that.

Trent Alexander-Arnold latest

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has doubled down on claims from earlier this year that Trent Alexander-Arnold moving to Real Madrid is at the ‘final stages’.

The full-back was the Reds’ hero in last week’s 1-0 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. His wild celebration with the travelling fans in the corner prompted speculation that he could be staying with the club.

It comes amid reports over the future of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. However, Romano has said that nothing has changes in regards to the player’s future.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, he said: “What I can tell you on Trent Alexander-Arnold is the situation is still exactly the same between Trent, Liverpool and Real Madrid. The deal for Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid is at the final stages. Just waiting for the formal steps, just waiting to sign all the contracts, just waiting to complete all the documents.

“So that’s the direction of the story – Real Madrid. At the moment no changes in the conversation or situation with Liverpool.

“It’s important to remind once again that Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid despite the social media stuff, the celebrations and all the rest.
