Mikel Arteta is keen for Arsenal to secure two forwards in the summer transfer window, as he aims to push the Gunners towards Premier League success after three consecutive years of near misses.

The London club has been consistently outpaced by Manchester City in recent seasons, with Arne Slot's Liverpool now on track to clinch this year's title. Arsenal currently sit in second place but face competition from trailing teams, ensuring there's still much at stake this season.

Despite several matches remaining, preparations are already underway for the forthcoming summer transfer window. It promises to be a hectic period for the Gunners and their new sporting director, Andrea Berta.

As per ESPN, Arsenal aim to bolster at least three positions this summer on the request of Arteta: a striker, a wide forward, and a central midfielder.

The club's ambition to sign a leading striker has been widely reported, especially in January when injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz threatened to derail their title aspirations.

Several players have been linked with a move to the Emirates, including Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres. Sesko was a prime target for the club last summer before he decided to renew his contract with RB Leipzig.

It is understood that Arteta wanted to strongly boost the forward line, with one than one forward recruit coming in.

The rebuild for another title assault will however also hinge on the midfield.

Martin Zubimendi, the midfield maestro from Real Sociedad, is at the top of Arsenal's wish list and negotiations are already underway. The Spanish international was on the brink of signing for Liverpool last summer before a last-minute change of heart.

However, after a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at home in midweek, all that's needed for Slot's team to secure their 20th domestic title is a single point when they face Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.
