Paraag Marathe is set for showdown talks over Daniel Farke’s future as Leeds United boss with the 49ers chief reportedly flying in from San Francisco to meet with the German - as ex Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is considered as a replacement.

Farke has led the Yorkshire giants to the English Premier League but doubt remain over whether he will be at the Elland Road helm for their return to the top flight south of the border.

Leeds United chairman Marathe is also at the heart of the Rangers takeover as President of 49ers Enterprises, the investment wing of the NFL giants, who own the English outfit.

The Yorkshire side are still battling it out with Burnley for England’s second tier crown and face Bristol City at home in a crunch clash as they need to win to go back above the Clarets - and the Guardian report that Marathe will be in attendance after flying across the Atlantic.

They say that “members of the 49ers Enterprises consortium that owns Leeds have privately expressed doubts about whether Farke is the right man to manage the club in the Premier League.”

It shows the ruthless side and what Rangers can expect and Marathe, who leads a consortium of about 100 investors making up 49ers Enterprises, wants to hear Farke’s vision as the ambitious owners “have ambitious plans to turn Leeds into a top-10 club.”

Farke has two years on his contract and would be due a year’s salary in compensation if dismissed.

The same report says ex Rangers gaffer Van Bronckhorst has been sounded out along with former Bayer Leverkusen, PSV and Benfica coach Roger Schmidt and Davide Ancelotti, son of Real Madrid coach Carlo and his assistant at the Bernabeu.
