Manchester United youngster Dan Gore made his return from injury on Sunday, appearing as a second half substitute in Rotherham United's 1-1 draw with Stevenage.

Gore joined the League One side on loan for the remainder of the season in the January transfer window but suffered a foot injury less than a week after making his debut.

The United midfielder made his debut as a first half substitute against Birmingham City on February 1 and was in line to make his full debut for the club the following weekend against Shrewsbury Town.

However, Gore was forced to pull out of the squad on the morning of the game due to a foot injury that originally left former Millers boss Steve Evans questioning how he had sustained it.

It was later confirmed he had returned to Carrington for treatment.

Following a successful rehabilitation period, the Manchester Evening News reported last week that Gore would be returning to South Yorkshire for Rotherham's final two games of their League One campaign.

He was named among the substitutes for Sunday's 1-1 stalemate with Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium and made his long-awaited return with 67 minutes on the clock, replacing Louie Sibley.

Storing 23 minutes under his belt, the 20-year-old, who was given his United debut by former boss Erik ten Hag in September 2023, completed five of his six attempted passes, won a third of his ground duels and four of his five aerial duels.

Having stored some much-needed minutes under his belt via the bench, Gore, following a week's worth of training this week, will be hoping to make his first start for Rotherham when they host Peterborough United at the New York Stadium on the final day of the season on Saturday.

The former Burnley youngster has experienced terrible luck on the injury front over the past year or so, with his temporary switch to Port Vale in January 2024 being curtailed after just one appearance due to injury. He then dislocated his shoulder last summer.
