The latest Manchester United news after England forward Marcus Rashford suffers an injury at Aston Villa.
There's set to be a lot of talk around the future of Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford before and during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Rashford is spending the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa after enduring a difficult first half of the campaign with United. The 27-year-old has scored four goals with six assists since leaving Old Trafford to move to Villa Park on loan.
But the England star has been handed a blow - with injury preventing him from being included in their squad for Villa's FA Cup semi-final defeat against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
The latest has now been given on the injury - with it being something that could potentially impact on his future. Here, we take a closer look at the latest Rashford headlines;
Injury blow
Rashford was not part of Villa's squad that lost 3-0 to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend. His absence came after he scored from the penalty spot for Villa in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League a few days earlier.
Villa manager, Unai Emery, confirmed that Rashford was not involved in the FA Cup semi-final due to injury. Now, another fresh update has emerged about the United loanee's fitness.
As reported by The Manchester Evening News, Rashford will undergo a scan on the hamstring injury this week to assess if he will be able to play again this season. It's expected the the forward will not need surgery.
Villa play Tottenham on Sunday, May 18, in a game which Rashford could be back for depending on the extent of his injury and the proposed update.
£40m option
United included an option to buy in the loan deal that saw Rashford move to Villa. The Midlands club have the option of signing Rashford on a permanent deal for £40million this summer.
The Manchester Evening News understands that Rashford will wait until the summer to make a decision on his longer-term future. The striker, 27, will delay any decision on a summer move amid the prospect of bigger clubs showing an interest in the off-season.
Amorim stance
Giving an update on Rashford's future last week, Ruben Amorim delivered United's stance on the situation.
"All the players that are on loan will return and then the club will decide what to do at the end of the season," the former Sporting CP head coach said. "The talent of Rashford, the talent of Antony, and all these players, they have talent and they have to show it to the team.
"We are really happy because, if you put one player on loan, the best thing for us is for them to perform and they are performing."
