Thierry Henry believes Mikel Arteta has been a success at Arsenal after taking over from Unai Emery in 2019. The 43-year-old has been a breath of fresh air at the Emirates since Arsene Wenger left, following a 22-year tenure.
Wenger won 17 trophies during his time as manager in north London and Arteta is keen to hand that identity back to the club.
Despite only winning the FA Cup so far, the changes in recent years are clear. The Gunners have been more competitive on all fronts finishing as runners up to Manchester City in the last two campaigns and are on course to finish there again this season.
This season, they improved on their previous Champions League campaign, reaching the semi-finals after only making it to the quarter-finals previously.
Speaking on CBS Sports, Henry highlighted the work done by Arteta. "From when he arrived, I think he has done extremely well," the Gunners legend said.
"Because now, we're back to being competitive. If you see now, competing in the Champions League, competing in the league.
"People forget that Mikel Arteta won the FA Cup at Arsenal, people do forget that he won it early. But more importantly, he's going to have to come with a trophy soon, any.
"I'm not talking about obviously the last one, that we can win this year is the Champions League, if it comes with the Champions League, it's never been done.
"It would just be outstanding but if we go back to the evolution, it has been magnificent from where we were.
"Fans are happy to go back to the stadium, the games are enjoyable to watch, there was an evolution on what to do.
"But if I said to you, forget this year, the last two years that Man City will struggle this year, who's going to win the league? I think everybody would have said Arsenal.
"Especially Liverpool losing Jurgen Klopp. New coach comes in, you would think that maybe there would be a little time of adaptation and it wasn't meant to be.
"I do believe that soon enough, to put a stamp on that, he's going to have to win another trophy."
