Man United told they had unfair advantage with red card decision as FA statement released
Evanilson was sent off during Manchester United's 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
AFC Bournemouth striker Evanilson will be available for the next three matches after his much-talked-about red card against Manchester United was rescinded. The Brazilian, 25, was sent off during the latter stages of Sunday's showdown with Ruben Amorim's side, with the Cherries protecting a one-goal lead.
Evanilson was initially shown a yellow card for a foul on Noussair Mazraoui, after a sliding tackle on the Morocco regular. It appeared that the forward slipped and went into his tackle with the United defender, but referee Peter Bankes changed his decision to red after the intervention of VAR.
Bournemouth were forced to defend their slender lead a man light after being reduced to 10 players, but Rasmus Hojlund scored late on to salvage a point for United. However, the Football Association (FA) have announced that Evanilson's three-match ban has been removed following a successful claim for wrongful dismissal.
It means that the attacker, who has nine goals this season for Bournemouth, will be available for Saturday's trip to the Emirates Stadium as well as clashes against Aston Villa and Manchester City.
Bournemouth's head coach Andoni Iraola was left incensed by the decision to dismiss Evanilson and admitted that it is "very difficult to accept".
"No, it's not very harsh, it's common sense," he said. He slips, everyone sees that he slips.
"Even if you consider, no, it doesn't matter he has slips, because he doesn't catch him with the leg that goes high. He catches him with the leg that goes down on the floor and he referees, the referee referees the play.
"And the VAR supposedly has to be something super clear, super obvious. The VAR is the one who decides.
"After, I want to see the process, how the process has gone.
"If they have shown him a still image, then they have shown him all the play in real speed, the reason why he slips and that is the situation.
"It's difficult, very difficult to accept."
However, United's head coach - Amorim - refused to be drawn on the red card call post-match. "I never comment on red cards, win, lose or draw," said the former Sporting CP manager.
