The celebrations at Wemley as Newcastle United lifted the Carabao Cup were a far cry from the scenes of dispair around the country at this time of year as sides are condemned to relegation.
But for Tino Livramento and Harvey Barnes, it's a memory that will be still fresh in their minds after suffering that fate with Southampton and Leicester City respectively. Neither dropped out of the Premier League, of course, with Newcastle United coming along with two huge deals that helped transform the squad.
It wasn't too long ago that United were perennial battlers at the bottom, but when Barnes and Livramento combined to help set up Alexander Isak's goal against Liverpool at Wembley, it marked the end of 70 years of domestic hurt. Now, it's all about the future on Tyneside a busy transfer window ahead.
United are no strangers to raiding relegated sides for the best talent, and the same could apply again this summer, with several names already linked with a move to Tyneside. Ipswich striker Liam Delap looks certain to leave Portman Road, with Newcastle and Manchester United holding an interest. He would fit the bill as a young, but talented understudy to Isak, however his wage demands could prove to prohibitive.
Team-mates Jaden Philogene and Omari Hutchinson are two likely to attract plenty of attention this summer too, although both have had injury-hit seasons in Suffolk. Fomer Aston Villa youngster Philogene starred for Hull City in the Championship last season, with his 'rabona' goal against Rotherham nominated for the FIFA Puskás Award.
Hutchinson joined on a permanent deal from Chelsea and, like Philogene, would offer pace in wide areas. Both can play on either flank, although Hutchinson is perhaps at his best in a No 10 role. His 27 Premier League appearances for Kieran McKenna's side brought three goals and two assists, while both have represented England at Under-21 level.
Southampton's Tyler Dibling is another with strong links to Newcastle already, with interested parties quoted an astronomical £100m asking fee back in January. That pricetag is likely to come down significantly, but there will be plenty of suitors should he leave St Mary's in the coming months.
He fits the profile of young, English talent with Premier League experience which United have looked at before - Livramento, Anthony Gordon, Lewis Hall - but Spurs have already indicated they could be set to make a move. His south coast team-mate Taylor Harwood-Bellis could also be set to leave the Saints, after breaking into the England side earlier this season.
Roy Keane's future son-in-law is now 23 but has plenty of experience with a series of loans while at Manchester City. After starring for sides such as Blackburn, Anderlecht and Burnley, he made a permanent move to Southampton following a season-long loan, and has been one of their stand-out players in an otherwise dismal season. He can play on either side of the defence but could be seen as the long-term successor to Fabian Schar.
After suffering yet another relegation, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale could be on the move again, which will inevitably rekindle Newcastle links. Eddie Howe gave the former Arsenal shot-stopper his Bournemouth debut, and it's no secret he's a big admirer of the 26-year-old. However, with firm interest in James Trafford, United could look elsewhere.
At Leicester, two name stand out, although neither are likely to challenge for a first-team place at Newcastle. Wilfred Ndidi has been attracting attention, with Jose Mourinho said to be keen to bring him to Fenerbahce in Turkey, with attacking talent Bilal El Khannouss has been linked with a move to Arsenal.
