Former Birmingham City winger Nathan Redmond has been released by Burnley.

The 31-year-old has had an injury hit spell at Turf Moor and will leave the club after two years but only 18 appearances.

Just three came last term, lasting only 20 minutes, as Scott Parker’s team went on to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Redmond, who was linked with a January transfer window move to Blues, came through the system at Wast Hills and played for the first team 82 times before moving to Norwich City. He spent three years at Carrow Road, six at Southampton and a successful 2022/23 campaign in Turkey with Besiktas.

Redmond has always been well-thought of at Blues having scored important goals in the club’s Europa League campaign before being sold off in a firesale.

He is now available on a free transfer as Blues consider their options in attack, where Scott Wright and Emil Hansson have had disrupted seasons and left Keshi Anderson as the club’s most reliable wide-man.

Also leaving Burnley is former Newcastle and Liverpool play-maker Jonjo Shelvey. The 33-year-old made only two appearances after signing for the club from Eyüpspor in January.

Blues have today announced their released/retained list with Grant Hanley and Lee Myung-Jae, who also signed short-term deals in the last transfer window, both moving on. Young striker Junior Dixon has also left, as has midfielder Josh Home.
