Ahead of the Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham, shocking footage of a brawl between fans in Spain has emerged on social media.

The two Premier League sides are set to face off at Athletic Club's home ground, with both teams hoping to salvage their disappointing domestic seasons.

A spot in next season's Champions League is also up for grabs, and thousands of fans from both clubs have travelled to Spain for the crucial match.

However, amidst the friendly banter in Bilbao, disturbing scenes of a brawl in nearby San Sebastian have surfaced, showing fans throwing punches and objects at each other.

The skirmish, which took place on the eve of the final, was widely shared across X. The Sun reports that authorities were alerted to the disturbance around 9.20pm after violent behaviour was spotted on Fermín Calbetón Street.

Eyewitnesses allege that the situation escalated when rival supporters began hurling insults at each other, leading to a full-blown brawl involving punches, thrown objects, and even a wheelie bin and drinks. One fan reportedly overturned a table to use as a weapon before order was restored by the police.

Despite the chaos, no arrests were made, although police remained in the area. An ambulance was also present, and several people were treated at the scene, but no one was taken to hospital.

Thousands of Brits have journeyed to Spain, braving sky-high flight costs and a scarcity of accommodation in the Basque region, to cheer on their teams.

The majority have conducted themselves well, with no significant disturbances reported prior to the incident in San Sebastian. It's believed that thousands of supporters have made the trip without tickets for both team's second-to-last match of the season.

The victor of Wednesday night's clash could potentially become the lowest-ranked team to ever lift a European trophy. The current record is held by West Ham, who were 14th in the league when they won the Europa Conference League.
