Liverpool: Merseyside Police issue statement after parade incident
Merseyside Police are today holding a press conference to provide further information regarding the car crash incident during Liverpool’sPremier League trophy parade. At 6pm on Monday, a car drove into fans and left 47 supporters injured, with 27 people rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
A statement has already been issued by police which read: "We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight’s incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre. We can confirm the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area. Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision."

Police are likely to provide an update on their investigation and the status of the 27 people, including two children, who were injured and taken to hospital.
They may also discuss further the identity of the driver, after a suspect was arrested at the scene.
