Rangers fans send takeover crew message on next manager as Ancelotti vs Martin throws up another dilemma

The race for the hot seat appears to be reaching an end - and the fans know who they want at the helm

Rangers fans have spoken - and they have sent the incoming consortium a message on who they want to see as they next boss at Ibrox.

American health tycoon Andrew Cavenagh is the driving force behind the San Francisco 49ers-backed takeover - and is set to jet into Glasgow for face-to-face talks with the contenders for the vacancy.

Frontrunners Davide Ancelotti and Russell Martin are set to make their pitches for what the future will look like should they land the job.

Chief executive Patrick Stewart, sporting director Kevin Thelwell and 49ers technical director Gretar Steinsson have been leading the conversations with candidates - but now the Light Blues' diehards have had their say.

His vote share dwarves the backing issued to former Southampton gaffer Martin - with Gerrard taking 28 per cent of the share to Martin's nine per cent.
