Celtic see Veljko Milosavljevic bid 'rejected' amid Kvistgaarden transfer issue as Greg Taylor contract pitched
The wheels are already in motion for a summer overhaul at Celtic Park
Celtic have reportedly seen their first bid for Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic rejected.
The Premiership champions are still recovering from Scottish Cup final defeat to Aberdeen that brought their Treble hopes to an end.
But Brendan Rodgers' side don't appear to be standing still in the transfer market with Hoops' facing a tough qualifying route to the Champions League next season.
But singing the 17-year-old wonderkid looks set to come at a heavy price with Serbian outlet Meridian Sport claiming that an initial offer was kicked out by the Czech side with a €10million (£8.4million) asking price now set.
Paris Saint-Germain and Everton are also said to be considering a move having "scouted" the towering defender this term.
In-demand Mathias Kvistgaarden has declared he is ready to leave Brondby amid fresh interest from Celtic.
But the issue over a deal to bring the striker - who has been called up to the senior Denmark squad for the for the first time - may not come down to the asking price.
With a fee set to top £10million for the forward, Eintracht Frankfurt are also understood to be pursuing a deal.
And Record Sport transfer guru Scott Burns told Hotline Live: "My information right now is that it’s more likely to be Eintracht Frankfurt than Celtic, but the door hasn’t been closed. A deal hasn’t been done—yet.
“Celtic have the money. If they really wanted to do the deal, they could go and do it tomorrow. I don’t think the issue is really the transfer fee, is it?
"It’s more about the wages and keeping players within the current structure—that’s the problem, isn’t it?
“When you start signing £10–11 million players, you have to pay them more.
“I think if they could get someone for, say, £12 million, a striker, on similar wages to Callum McGregor, they’d do it tomorrow. It’s the wage structure that’s more of an issue.”
Elsewhere, Greg Taylor's contract status remains up in the air ahead of Kieran Tierney's imminent return.
As it stands, the left-back will have played his last match for the Hoops in the Hampden defeat to Jimmy Thelin's men.
But Charlie Mulgrew has urged his former club to splash the cash on a new deal for the 27-year-old.
He told Premier Sports: “Celtic need to keep Greg Taylor. Kieran Tierney comes in, and he will play a lot of games.
“But you need somebody else there. There are so many games.
"They played 60-odd games this year, or around about that figure, so you need players to back up and the depth in the squad.
“And he plays that inverted role so well. He comes into midfield, plays as a number six and does it brilliantly, so I hope he signs.”
Should the Scotland defender leave, The Celtic Way report that PAOK are among the clubs chasing the soon-to-be free agent.
