Rio Ferdinand leaves TNT Sport punditry role after 10 years as emotional statement released
Rio Ferdinand has announced he is leaving his role as a pundit with TNT Sports after Saturday's Champions League final in a statement released through his X account
Rio Ferdinand has announced he will leave his punditry role at TNT Sports to dedicate himself further to his entrepreneurial ventures.
The ex-Manchester United and England centre-back has been analysing games on the channel for 10 years. Ferdinand confirmed he will leave following the broadcast of this Saturday's Champions League final between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
The 46-year-old expressed that the choice was his own and that he left on amicable terms. He cited a desire to dedicate more time to his family after extensive travel for Premier League coverage with BT Sport and TNT.
"Since retiring from football, it has been a privilege talking about the game I love for a decade for sports fans watching BT Sport and TNT Sports," he said in a statement released through his X account.
"I want to acknowledge the tremendous support from the team behind the scenes, whose hard work often goes unseen but has been essential to our success.
"As I turn the page to the next chapter, I carry with me countless memories. I am excited about what the future holds, spending more time with my family, focusing on Rio Ferdinand Presents and my other business interests.
"I hope to stay connected with you all in different capacities. Thank you once again for everything!"
Insiders at TNT Sports have communicated to the PA news agency that Ferdinand's exit is on good terms and options remain open for potential collaborations.
