Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is reportedly set to complete a medical before finalising a move to Arsenal. The Gunners have long been linked with the Spanish midfielder, and have committed to meeting his £51million release clause.

Zubimendi, 26, turned down a move to Liverpool last summer. He's since produced another impressive season in La Liga, playing 44 times for his club in all competitions. Despite frequent speculation over a move to the Premier League, he was publicly coy on his future throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

However, according to the BBC, all the paperwork and payment structure for his switch to North London has already been agreed by all parties. A date is yet to be set for his medical, but the transfer is now said to be a formality.

Zubimendi is set to become Mikel Arteta's first signing of the summer. He's now reportedly lining up two more big money deals as the club reacts to the early work being done by Liverpool in the transfer market.

RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres are also said to be being pursued by the Premier League runners-up. Critics have long cited Arsenal's lack of a clinical finisher as a reason for the failure to land major silverware in the past three seasons, with Arteta now set to address the issue.

Gyokeres, 26, has enjoyed another prolific season in Portugal, scoring 54 goals in 52 games. He has an £84m release in his current deal, although Sporting will reportedly consider offers in excess of £60m when the transfer window opens.

Sesko, 21, was linked to a move to Arsenal 12 months ago. Although a transfer didn't materialise, the Slovenian international has continued to be touted for a big move away after scoring 21 times at club level this season.

Arsenal are also said to be trying to tie down a number of current first-team squad members. Talks over new contracts for Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are reportedly ongoing.
