Heung-min Son has become the latest Tottenham player to show public support for Ange Postecoglou following his sacking.

Spurs officially parted company with Friday evening, just two weeks after he ended the club’s 17-year major trophy drought with victory over Manchester United in the all-English Europa League final.

Despite the trophy success, the Australian’s fate was ultimately sealed by a very poor Premier League campaign that saw Tottenham finish 17th - just one spot above the relegation zone - having lost 22 of their 38 matches.

Amid reports that the Spurs players are ‘furious’ with the decision, it is clear that Postecoglou had a great rapport with the squad, highlighted by Pedro Porro, Dominic Solanke, Lucas Bergvall and Richarlison all showing support for the sacked manager.

And now Son has done the same. The forward was named Tottenham captain by Postecoglou following the departure of Hugo Lloris in the summer of 2023, meaning he was first to lift the Europa League trophy last month.

Clearly grateful for the opportunity, Son penned a message on social media to the ex-Spurs boss.

He wrote: “Gaffer. You’ve changed the trajectory of this club. You believed in yourself, and us, since day one and never wavered for a second. Even when others did.

You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best night it’s had in decades. We will have those memories for life

“You knew what we were capable of all along. You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best night it’s had in decades. We will have those memories for life.

“You trusted me with the captaincy. One of the highest honours of my career. It’s been an incredible privilege to learn from your leadership up close, I am a better player and a better person because of you.

Ange Postecoglou, you are a Tottenham Hotspur legend forever. Thank you, mate.”
